Podcast Episode 15. Outside the Pyramids of Giza

G’day all and welcome to the Midlife Crisis Odyssey Podcast, where not all who wander are lost, but some of us definitely are.

Having spent the first day of my visit to the Pyramids of Giza getting a feel for the place, and venturing inside the Pyramids of Khufu and Khafre, I returned the following day ready for some wider exploration.

I’m planning a trip to Egypt, and am trying to pick which desert/oasis to visit. Siwa looks amazing, but is 9 hours from Cairo by car (only way to get there.) I’m also considering Baharia, Kharga, Farafra – don’t know which one. Want to overnight camp 1 night, hotel the other night(s), jeep safari, sand board, sight see. Any suggestions? Thx

Hello Lynne, thanks for your message and apologies for my slow reply! Siwa is certainly an amazing spot, but it is definitely a long way from Cairo. Part of the adventure of visiting an oasis is the journey, to really get that comparison between the desert and the lush watered country, but you don’t want to spend your entire holiday in the car! To be honest I haven’t visited the three oases you mention…however they all look pretty amazing. I hope you can find an option that suits your timeframe, and offers all the activities you are after. All the best and have a great trip!
