After six days holed up in Tulcan sorting repairs from my previous ride, I finally got back on the road. The plan: take a track along the Ecuador-Colombia border, then head south through the Amazon. I got stopped by police, warned about armed gangs, questioned at army checkpoints, and patted down for weapons. But security concerns aren’t the whole story.
