When you think about it, Athens really has contributed far more than its share of institutions to our modern way of life. Democracy, Nana Miskouri and of course the modern Olympic Games all came out of this ancient city.

Acropolis Museum, Greece

In order to protect the extraordinary collection of ancient artefacts found at the Acropolis, the aptly named Acropolis Museum was built. I figured it would be a pretty good place to start my journey into Greece’s long history.

Ferry to Athens

I decided to take the ferry to Athens. It’s more expensive than a flight, takes all night, and no-one chooses it unless they are taking a car with them, but I like ferries so I bloody-well booked it anyway.

Leaving Crete

After having a great time circumnavigating the island, it’s time for me to be leaving Crete. I will certainly take some great memories from this beautiful island.
