Strange Meeting, Poland

After seeing the main areas of Birkenau Concentration Camp, and learning of the horrors that had occurred there, it was a relief to find a tranquil patch of nature. Whilst enjoying the quiet and the late afternoon sun, I had a strange meeting.

The title of this post is taken from a poem by Wilfred OwenAlthough Second Lieutenant Owen’s poem has a different theme, his writing came to mind when I was wondering what to call this post.

Deeply moving. Beautifully written. I will be pondering this piece, and little Hannah, for some time.

Thanks Jim… Ive not visited such a sad place myself in person, but your voice and accompanying story and pictures was a powerful depiction. I’ll look for a sunny spot and greenery now..

Hello Jill, thankyou for your message. Yes, nature has a way of bringing some peace even in the darkest of places.
