Adventure Riding in South America Episode 10
Riding Ecuador’s Andes is a dream, but accessing Chimborazo and Cotopaxi Volcanoes comes with a catch: no motorcycles allowed! In Episode 10 of Adventure Riding in South America, I leave Cuenca and ride north to explore Ecuador’s tallest volcanoes. Expecting to ride deep into the National Parks before hitting the hiking trails, I find myself having to leave the Tenere behind at the entry gates. Join me as I navigate the National Park regulations, hitch rides with friendly locals, and trade two wheels for two feet to reach 5000m elevation on Chimborazo and Cotopaxi. It wasn’t the ride I planned, and the hike was tough, but the view from these volcanic giants was worth every step.
